You’ve heard the buzz haven’t you?  There has been so much chatter about the Law of Attraction in the last year…  I just entered the term into Google search and produced 5.4 million results!

The Law of Attraction teachings are truly changing the course of history.  Millions of people from all over the world are embracing the LOA and creating the life of their dreams.

Hundreds of my clients have literally transformed their life for the better by understanding how to effectively harness this limitless power through my Beyond Vitality and Prosperity (BVP) program.

On the flip side I have also heard many people expressing doubt and frustration with the Law of Attraction.  Here is a quote from a blog post I recently reviewed, “The teachers of Law of Attraction and the movie The Secret are misleading you.  They preach that all you have to do is feel good and stuff comes to you.  I disagree fully.  In order for things to come to you you must take action.” This person obviously does not understand the Law of Attraction.

Of course you have to take some action to get some action.  The key to success is understanding what kind of action to take and when to take it.

How do I explain this?

First let’s quickly bring you up to speed on the definition of the Law of Attraction.  It states “that which is like unto itself is drawn.”  Basically, what you think about you bring about.  Thoughts become things.  Do you understand this fundamental fact?  You are always attracting, whether intentionally or by default.  So you may as well attract the things you want versus the things you don’t want.

But how do you know if you will like the things that you are attracting?  It’s easy – just pay attention to how you feel on a regular basis.  If you feel positive emotions most of the time then you will attract things that please you.  And if you feel negative emotions then by law you will attract things that do not please you.

The trick is to be intentional about it… this is where the ACTION comes in!

What kinds of action can we take to really get this Law of Attraction flowing good things our way?  The answer is to ACT on your thoughts and your emotions.

The most important action to take is to intentionally think thoughts that give you good feelings when you think them.

Yes, ‘feeling good’ is an action in and of itself.

Think about it for a minute.  If you feel bad what can you do to feel better?  Take some ACTION right?  Be proACTive and reach for thoughts that feel better when you think them.

This kind of action can take a lot of work for some people and may even seem impossible to others.  That’s why alcohol, food and anti-depressant drugs are so popular.  It’s often easier to reach for a pill, a cookie or a bottle of beer than to reach for a better feeling thought.

Here’s the KEY to being successful at reaching for better feeling thoughts… don’t try to reach for thoughts that are too far vibrationally from the dominant thoughts you are thinking.  Work your way up gradually.

In order to understand what I am saying here it is essential that you understand a tool called the Emotional Tone Scale.  When I learned this one simple piece of information it changed my whole existence.  I would go as far to say that this tool, the Emotional Tone Scale, is the most important thing to understand next to the Law of Attraction itself.

Stay with me here.  You see, your emotions are a state of vibration.  They are an indicator between what you are thinking in your mind and what your inner being knows to be true.  Your inner being is pure positive vibration.  So if you think thoughts that are in alignment with your inner vibration you feel good.  And if you think thoughts that contradict your inner vibration you feel bad.

Let’s have a look at the scale so you can see it and understand what I am talking about.  The emotions are listed from highest positive vibration down to the lowest negative vibration.

1.Joy Knowledge, Empowerment, Freedom, Love and Appreciation
2.Passion
3.Enthusiasm, eagerness, happiness
4.Positive expectation, belief
5.Optimism
6.Hopefulness
7.Contentment
8.Boredom
9.Pessimism
10. Frustration, irritation, impatience
11. Overwhelm
12. Disappointment
13. Doubt
14. Worry
15. Blame
16. Discouragement
17. Anger
18. Revenge
19. Hatred, rage
20. Jealousy
21. Insecurity, guilt, unworthiness
22. Fear, grief, depression, despair, powerlessness

(Emotional Tone Scale from Abraham-Hicks)

So how can you use this scale to help you to effectively feel better?  Know where the emotions are relative to each other on the scale and work your way up gradually!

Remember what I said about people making this too hard on themselves by trying to reach for thoughts and feelings that are too far from where they are?  Don’t do that!  Just don’t!

If you feel fear or depression it’s nearly impossible to find a thought of appreciation.  It’s too different from where you are.  It’s much easier to work your way up the scale.  So if you feel fear find a thought that is higher up on the scale.  Revenge always feels better than fear.  But anger feels better than revenge.  Don’t hang around at revenge or anger though… actively reach for thoughts that let you feel better.  Maybe you can find the feeling of blame, or doubt or frustration… keep going.  Be proACTive!  Reach for thoughts that eventually bring you to contentment or hopefulness.  When you are at hopefulness you are home free!

Let’s look at a real life example for clarity.  Maybe you feel negative emotion because your financial situation or business is down.  You feel fear and depression. You could turn it around by intentionally thinking thoughts about your business that are higher up on the scale.

For example, your initial negative thoughts may be something like this:  “My business is down and my finances are in the red, there is not enough money coming in and at this rate I will have no way of paying my bills next month.  This causes me to be fearful and depressed.”

Begin by reaching for thoughts that feel better.  For example – “I’m jealous of my fellow colleagues (jealousy).  They are still doing well and I’m not.  Damn that pisses me off (anger).  They are taking all my business (blame).  I’m worried that I won’t be able to pay my bills next month (worry).  I don’t think I’ll be able to make things happen in time (doubt).  I know there are many things I can do to help out, but I just feel overwhelmed when thinking about it (overwhelm).  I want it to happen now, I can’t wait for it to happen later (impatience).  It’s probably not going to work out for me (pessimism).  I think if I just chill out a little and focus on one thing at a time everything will be alright (hopefulness).  In fact, I’ve seen others go through the same problems and they seemed to turn it around by believing in themselves (belief).  I feel pretty passionate about my business and what I do (passion).  If there is one thing that I know it is that I create my own reality through what I give my attention to (knowing).  So I will now give my full attention, appreciation and focus to my success (appreciation).”

So you see how this works now?  Don’t try to be ‘grateful’ if you are pissed off or afraid.  Gradually work your way up the scale.

This is the most powerful tool you can use in your life.  If you use this properly you will attract nothing but Vitality and Prosperity into your existence.

The last part to this process is this: once you are in a place of feeling good then take whatever action you feel inspired to take.  This is the time to take inspired physical action – when you are feeling good.  Everything that you act on now will be so much more powerful and lead you directly toward your desired outcome.

I hope you appreciated this lesson on the ACTION in the Law of Attraction!  Go and take action now!

Jack , you make an excellent point. I think too often people reach too far beyond what they are feeling or thinking currently and it really pushes the envelope of believability. For instance, right now I cannot visualize myself in a big mansion and get any real emotion in it. It’s just too far from my current reality for me to believe, but I can totally get emotional about living in my current house with all of the renovations and expansions I would love to have done.

I’d also like to mention that I found letting go of jealousy to be HUGE for me in the manifestation of wealth. Once I got truly happy and excited about the financial success of those around me and was no longer envious, my finances began to turn around.

    Hi Jack,

Great stuff on Action. Oftentimes when people talk about action they tend to talk about it as a gung-ho thing whereas your post related it to emotions and vibration which is at the heart of it all, it’s about inspired action relative to vibration

Good chatting with you earlier, chat soon
    Take care,

I learned about this Emotional Guidance Scale from Jerry and Esther Hicks in their book, Ask And It Is Given. It is very powerful and has helped me to change my life completely. Working your way up the scale can be a life changing experience. Nice to see you using it in your work to help others.

And sometimes it’s as simple as saying to myself, over and over, I want to feel good, I want to feel good … and that repetition replaces the thought that was making me feel bad and makes room for a thought that lifts my mood. Yes, it does need to be gradual, we can’t shift from despair to elation without the gradations between but simply asking for a thought that feels good works well for me.
